My name is Stella Sage. I build and maintain web products for a living — PHP back-ends that have survived real traffic, front-ends that load fast on the devices my readers actually use, and WordPress sites that are a joy to maintain instead of a chore.
How I write here
Three rules I hold myself to:
- If I recommend a tool, I’ve shipped with it. No listicles padded to hit a word count.
- Code goes in context. Snippets are from real projects, with the boring parts that matter left in.
- Trade-offs are the point. Every “best” choice is the best choice for a constraint. I’ll tell you which constraint I was optimizing for.

I’m kicking off a short series on the fundamentals I see get skipped most often — the stuff that separates “it works on my machine” from “it works at 8pm on a Friday.” Expect concrete walkthroughs, not theory.
